SANTORINI - THE EXPLOSIVE ISLAND
Santorini is one of the most beautiful islands in the world and an exotic destination, known all over the world. The capital of the island is Fira built on the Caldera, 260 m above sea level, with a wonderful view of the clear blue waters of the Aegean. The wild Black beaches in Kamari and Perissa, the circular beach and the huge beach in Vlychada remind of a lunar landscape, and owe their existence to the volcanic eruption. Near the archeological site of Akrotiri, is the Red Beach which is a fascinating place. North of Kamari is the beach of Monolithos, the quietest beach of Santorini.

The Santorini wine that is a typical product of the island owes its good taste to the volcanic soil. The volcanic landscape of Santorini offers an interesting environment for agriculture and the local wine is known worldwide for its special taste. Vinsanto and nyhteri are the most famous wines of Santorini, while the people of Santorini cultivate mainly white wine varieties. The saffron of Santorini, that is, the yolk, is one of the most valuable local products as it is produced only in two parts of the island, in Akrotiri and Emporio. Fava is also one of the local products of Santorini that has been cultivated for centuries.
